Happy Mothers Day!

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Happy Mothers Day to all those Moms out there, especially the one my little girl calls Mommy! We went out for dinner then to a nice little frozen yogurt joint we just found, after that we walked around to find a few places to take some pictures, I like the way these two came out. All processed with Nikon NX2, exported to Tiffs, then into Adobe Lightroom to add one of my presets and up-loaded to Flickr using Jeffrey Friedl’s excellent LR to Flickr Plug-in.

Photographer Keith Bedford’s, “Kenya’s Stone Quarries”

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I came across a photographer by the name of Keith Bedford today when researching how to use Photoshelter in combination with Wordpress.  His gallery was one of the featured galleries on Photoshelter’s site.  There’s a ton of great stuff on his site but the one gallery I really liked was the “Stone Quarries” gallery.  It’s about workers who dig construction materials from quarries outside of Nairobi, Kenya.  I like his use of out of focus elements in the foreground of his images, this gives the image depth and a sort of undercover feel, maybe he was undercover, who knows, but the over all feeling of these images to me is exposure, he’s exposing something with the subjects in the frame.

Skye on Halloween, 2009

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

My wife got our daughter a cute little lady bug costume for Halloween.  She’s a little too young to go trick-or-treating so we just dressed her up and went to take some pictures for us to remember when we’re old.  I swear I think she enjoys being in front of the camera, she’s such a little ham!

Amazing work!

Friday, October 10th, 2008

From the Boston Globes, “Big Picture” blog comes a set of photographs from photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand. If you visit the site now they’ve cut the image from 38 down to ten, but thanks to Google cache you can see the original 38 here. What’s also cool is that you can click on “map” in the text below the image and it will bring you to Google maps! Don’t forget to turn on “Satellite” and under “More” you can also try turning on Wikipedia and Photos.
